Open Net co-hosted a DRAPAC session to announce the findings of a human rights review of the business policies of internet platforms and telecoms in Malaysia, South Korea and Taiwan, with Ranking Digital Rights, Open Culture Foundation, and Digital Asia Hub in Chiang Mai, on May 22, 2023

DAH, OCF and ONK, in association with RDR, launched three reports, uncovering the policies and practices of the tech companies in Malaysia, South Korea, and Taiwan. The organizations are part of a pilot initiative that have adapted Ranking Digital Rights’s corporate accountability methodology to the local contexts of these three countries. We talked about the key findings from the studies and how each organization approached adapting the methodology to suit their research needs. The session was followed up by two other sessions on the training on RDR methodology(“Research against Tech machines: Building a community of corporate accountability researchers”) and the regional commonality of RDR findings on businesses in Asia (“Facing tech power: using evidence-based research to hold tech companies accountable in Asia-Pacific“) on May 23 and May 24, respectively.
